Ha Tinh

Introduction

Hà Tĩnh is a province on Vietnam's North Central Coast, positioned between Nghệ An to the north and Quảng Bình to the south. Laos lies to its west, and the South China Sea forms its eastern edge.

Three days in Ha Tinh

Day one: Base yourself in Hà Tĩnh and get your bearings in the city before venturing out. As the capital of the province of the same name, it makes a practical starting point for exploring Vietnam's North Central Coast, sitting between Nghệ An to the north and Quảng Bình to the south, with Laos further inland to the west and the South China Sea to the east.

Day two: Use the city as a springboard for the wider province, keeping in mind the geography that shapes your route. The coastal side faces the South China Sea, while the western edge of the province runs up against Laos, so you can orient a day around either the sea or the mountains depending on what you want from the landscape.

Day three: Round out your time by looking beyond Hà Tĩnh's borders. Nghệ An and Quảng Bình are the neighbouring provinces along this stretch of the North Central Coast, and both are reachable if you want to extend the trip rather than double back.
