Viet Yen

Introduction

Việt Yên is a district-level town in Bắc Giang province, in Vietnam's Northeast region. It sits at the crossroads of several neighbouring areas: Bắc Ninh province lies to the south, Hiệp Hòa district to the west, Yên Dũng district to the east, and Tân Yên district and Bắc Giang City to the north.

Three days in Viet Yen

Day one: Base yourself in Việt Yên and get your bearings in Bắc Giang province. The district sits in the Northeast of Vietnam, with Bắc Ninh to one side and Hiệp Hòa, Yên Dũng and Tân Yên among its neighbours, so it makes a useful starting point for the wider area. Spend the day moving between the district's own settlements and the surrounding countryside, keeping Bắc Giang City in mind as a larger urban stop if you want a change of pace.

Day two: Head out towards Bắc Giang City, the province's main urban centre, and use it as a contrast to the quieter district you started in. From there you can loop back through the neighbouring districts — Hiệp Hòa, Yên Dũng and Tân Yên — each with its own rural character. If you prefer to stay closer to base, simply explore more of Việt Yên itself and its villages.

Day three: Cross into Bắc Ninh, which borders the area, or return to the parts of Việt Yên you have not yet seen. With Bắc Giang City, Bắc Ninh and the surrounding districts all within reach, the last day is best kept flexible — pick one direction and follow it at an easy pace before you move on.
