Gia Lam

Introduction

Gia Lâm sits at the eastern edge of Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam. It was formerly the city's easternmost urban district, so you'll find it on the far side of the capital as you head out from the centre.

Three days in Gia Lam

Day one: Base yourself in Gia Lâm, a district of Hanoi in Vietnam, and use it as your starting point for getting to know the capital. Take your time settling in and let the contrast between the district and central Hanoi set the rhythm for your stay.

Day two: Head into Hanoi and give the day over to the city itself. Move between its streets and neighbourhoods on foot where you can, and let the scale of the place guide how much you try to cover.

Day three: Return to Gia Lâm and spend your last day closer to where you are staying, filling in whatever you missed earlier in the trip. Keep the final day unhurried so you end on the district rather than on the road.
