Cabudare
Introduction
Cabudare is a city in Lara State, Venezuela, and the capital of Palavecino Municipality. It sits at an elevation of 400 m on the Turbio River, along the Autopista Centro Occidental, the main freeway through the country's west-central region.
As the economy of nearby Barquisimeto has grown, Cabudare has become a bedroom community, with new housing construction replacing the sugar cane fields. A minority of the population still works in agriculture within the municipality.
Getting around
Cabudare sits on the Autopista Centro Occidental, the main west-central freeway, and functions largely as a bedroom community for Barquisimeto. That relationship shapes your movement: most practical transport links Cabudare with Barquisimeto rather than circulating only within the city. There is no train, metro or tram service, so plan on road transport. Buses, taxis and walking are the realistic options, with the freeway and the Barquisimeto link as the main arteries.
Buses are the main form of public transport. Bus Line 801, operated by Transbar C.A., runs directly between Calle 47 in Barquisimeto and La Ceiba in Cabudare, with departures roughly every half hour daily and a journey of around half an hour. Confirm current timings with the operator or the Ministry of Transport listing before you travel, as schedules can change. Taxis are widely available and are the quickest door-to-door option for the Barquisimeto–Cabudare trip, taking roughly a quarter of an hour; they suit luggage or a late arrival, and you should agree on the fare before setting off. Driving yourself takes a similar time and is inexpensive in fuel terms, though you need to be comfortable with the freeway and local road conditions. Walking works for short trips within a neighbourhood or urbanisation, but not for the full distance between the two cities, which is a long trek of several hours on foot; pavements and public spaces can be uneven, so rely on buses or taxis for anything longer. If you arrive by air, you will most likely land at the airport serving Barquisimeto and continue by road, choosing between the bus, a taxi or a rental car on the freeway, and allowing time for traffic around Barquisimeto given how many people commute between the two.
Three days in Cabudare
Day one: Start in Cabudare itself, the seat of Palavecino Municipality in Lara State, and get your bearings on foot along Calle La Ceiba. Walking is the easiest way to settle into the town's everyday rhythm before planning anything further afield. If you want to head toward Barquisimeto, confirm schedules with the Ministry of Transport or ask locally about Transbar and other bus lines, since services run from the town toward the city. Keep the Turbio River in mind as a marker of the surrounding landscape rather than a destination in itself.

Day two: Use Cabudare as your base for a day in Barquisimeto, the larger city nearby. Buses and taxis both make the connection, and driving via the Autopista Centro Occidental is another option if you have a vehicle. Confirm your return transport before you set out, so the trip back to Cabudare doesn't catch you out.
