El Tigre
Introduction
El Tigre sits in Anzoátegui state, on the Guanipa Mesa, with the Tigre river running across the city. The climate stays warm all year round, so you can plan around heat rather than seasons.
For a change of scene, the Chimire Cliffs are a nearby destination worth working into your time in the area.
Three days in El Tigre
Day one: Start in El Tigre, the city at the centre of Anzoátegui's oil country, and take your time getting your bearings. Use the day to settle into the rhythm of the place, wandering the streets and getting a feel for how the city works before heading further out.
- Begin in El Tigre itself
- Get oriented in Anzoátegui
Day two: Head for the Chimire Cliffs, the landmark that draws travellers out of the city. The cliffs are the main natural sight in the area, so give yourself room to take them in properly rather than rushing the visit.

Day three: Turn your attention to Guanipa Mesa, another of the places worth seeking out around El Tigre. If you have time left before you leave, return to El Tigre for a last look around before you go.
