Nong Chok
Introduction
Nong Chok is one of the districts of Bangkok, and it sits at the far eastern edge of the city. It borders Amphoe Lam Luk Ka in Pathum Thani province, Amphoe Bang Nam Priao and Amphoe Mueang Chachoengsao in Chachoengsao province, and the Bangkok districts of Lat Krabang, Min Buri and Khlong Sam Wa.
Of all Bangkok's districts, Nong Chok is the largest and the most sparsely populated, so expect open space and a quiet, rural feel rather than the density of the inner city.
Three days in Nong Chok
Day one: Base yourself in Nong Chok and get your bearings in the district's own streets before looking outward. Bangkok lies to the west, and the neighbouring districts of Lat Krabang, Min Buri and Khlong Sam Wa sit between you and the city, so you can ease into the area rather than plunging straight into central Bangkok.
Day two: Head east and north into the surrounding provinces. Amphoe Lam Luk Ka and Pathum Thani lie to the north, while Amphoe Bang Nam Priao, Amphoe Mueang Chachoengsao and Chachoengsao sit to the east, giving you a ring of places to explore beyond Nong Chok itself.
Day three: Use the last day to fill in whatever you missed, whether that means a return to Bangkok or another of the neighbouring districts and provinces. It is a corner of the country where the city and the surrounding countryside meet, so plan your route around what you most want to see.
