Izmaylovo

Getting around

Izmaylovo sits in Moscow's Eastern Administrative Okrug, and the metro and bus network will get you in and out while your feet handle the final stretch. Two metro lines serve the area: line 3 (Arbatsko-Pokrovskaya) and line 14, the Moscow Central Circle, which works as a rail-style loop integrated with the metro so you can switch between lines without returning to the centre. Partizanskaya on line 3 is the nearest station to Izmailovsky Market, roughly an eleven-minute walk away, and Izmaylovo on line 14 is about a twelve-minute walk from the market. Line 14 runs very early, with the first trains around three in the morning and the last shortly after, which helps if you arrive or leave at an unusual hour.

Buses fill in the gaps and are the main surface option for the market area; routes 311, 322, 444, 634, 716 and T22 stop directly at the market, and the nearest stops, Metro Partizanskaya and Partizanskaya Metro, are about a ten- to eleven-minute walk away. Other stops within a longer walk include Eastern Railway Station and RZD Arena. Service hours vary by route — bus H3 starts around three in the morning and runs past three, while shuttle 860 begins earlier and runs until around half past midnight — so check the specific route you plan to use rather than assuming a single schedule. Treat taxis and ride-hailing as a fallback for late nights or heavy luggage.

Once you are in the market area, everything is genuinely walkable: the stations, stops, market, Kremlin and museums sit within a comfortable ten- to fifteen-minute stroll of one another, though some stops such as RZD Arena involve a longer walk of over twenty minutes, so plan your arrival point to match your destination. Arrive by metro or bus and then explore the whole cluster on foot rather than hopping between individual sights. Transit apps such as Moovit are commonly used to map connections and find the nearest stops, though fares are not always listed there and you may be directed to the app for details.

Three days in Izmaylovo

Day one: Arrive in Izmaylovo, a district of Moscow in the Eastern Administrative Okrug, and settle in before heading out. Use the metro to get your bearings — Partizanskaya Metro and Partizanskaya station on the Arbatsko–Pokrovskaya line put the area within easy reach, and the Moscow Central Circle and Eastern Railway Station connect you to the wider city. Buses serve the neighbourhood too, so you can treat your first afternoon as a gentle orientation rather than a rush.

Day two: Give the day to Izmailovsky Market, the district's best-known draw. Browse the stalls and pick up souvenirs, then treat yourself to something from the food sellers. The market sits close to Partizanskaya Metro, so you can come and go easily, and buses stop nearby if you prefer to ride.

Day three: Use the transport network for a wider look at Moscow. The Arbatsko–Pokrovskaya line and the Moscow Central Circle make it simple to reach the Kremlin and other central sights, and Eastern Railway Station and RZD Arena are useful landmarks on the eastern side. Once back in Izmaylovo, take a final walk through the neighbourhood before you leave.
