Getting around

Biryulevo sits in southern Moscow, and you can reach and move around it by metro, commuter rail, bus, tram, taxi or ride-hailing app. The metro is the backbone: Line 2 runs south toward Orekhovo, and Line 9 runs toward Prazhskaya, where bus connections continue into the district. For a faster surface-level option, Central PPK commuter trains run hourly from Paveletsky Station in central Moscow to Biryulevo-Passazhirskaya; you can choose the standard commuter electric train, which is cheaper, or the faster, more comfortable Lastochka at a slightly higher fare. Buses fill the gaps and are the cheapest way to travel. Route е85 runs directly between Dobryninskaya and Domodedovskaya metro stations, departs frequently through the day and takes roughly three-quarters of an hour. Route 852 runs from Prazhskaya metro station to a stop called Apteka in about twenty minutes, and pairs naturally with Line 9: ride from Borovitskaya to Prazhskaya, then switch to the bus. Modern vehicles including electric buses (elektrobus) appear alongside conventional buses on the surface fleet.

Pay for buses with a rechargeable Troika stored-value card, which covers the routes serving Biryulevo, and keep an Ediny ticket as a backup on the same routes. If you prefer door-to-door travel, taxis and ride-hailing apps are readily available, and a taxi from central Moscow to the area takes around twenty minutes in normal conditions; BlaBlaCar runs between Moscow and the nearby town of Vidnoye roughly twice a day, taking about forty minutes. Driving yourself is possible and the cheapest private option, though parking and traffic in the center can complicate it. Biryulevo is a residential district rather than a compact tourist core, so plan to walk short hops between a stop and your destination and cover longer stretches by transport. Domodedovskaya metro station, served by bus е85, is a useful interchange for the southern side of the city, and for the fastest trip from central Moscow take the commuter train to Biryulevo-Passazhirskaya.

Three days in Biryulevo

Day one: Arrive in Biryulevo from central Moscow by taking the Line south from Paveletsky Station on a Lastochka or Central PPK service, or by bus along the Route from Domodedinskaya. Once settled, get your bearings on foot and pick up a Troika or Ediny card for Modern Pay on transport. In the evening, head to Orekhovo or Prazhskaya for a meal and a look around the neighbourhood.

Day two: Use Biryulevo as your base for a day trip into Moscow. Ride the Line north to Dobryninskaya or Borovitskaya for the centre, or take a bus toward Vidnoye if you want to explore south of the city. If you prefer to share a ride, BlaBlaCar is an option for longer hops. Return to Biryulevo in the evening.

Day three: Spend your last day locally. Take the Line to Orekhovo or Prazhskaya, stop at Apteka for any essentials, and enjoy a relaxed wander through Biryulevo's residential streets. For your onward journey, head back via Paveletsky Station on the Lastochka or Central PPK, or catch a bus along the Route.
