Odintsovo
Introduction
Odintsovo is a city in Moscow Oblast and the administrative centre of Odintsovsky District, sitting as a western suburb of Moscow. Its position on the capital's western edge makes it a natural stop for travellers moving between the city and the surrounding oblast.
Getting there
Odintsovo is served by elektrichki, the convenient suburban trains that depart from Moscow's Belorussky Train Station; the journey takes about 40 minutes. The town's railway station is your arrival point.
Alternatively, bus #339 leaves roughly every 15 minutes from Moscow's Kievsky Bus Station and also takes about 40 minutes to reach Odintsovo.
Getting around
Odintsovo is a compact suburban city rather than a sprawling metropolis, and much of the central area is walkable — distances between the railway station, nearby bus stops and local landmarks are modest. Buses are the workhorse of local movement: line 10 connects to the MCD station at Odintsovo and runs from early morning until roughly half past nine in the evening, line 1056 heads toward Marshal Biryuzov Street, and line 477 runs to Kiev Station. Stops in the built-up parts of town are generally close together, often only a minute or two on foot from a given address, so you can combine walking with a short bus ride. Marshrutkas — shared shuttle minibuses — supplement the network; line 103K, for example, runs from early morning until late evening, though these shuttles often follow slightly different routes and stopping patterns from full-size buses, so check a transit app or ask locally for the specific line you need.
- On Moscow-operated public transport, pay with a Troika card or a single-journey Ediny ticket; the Troika is more convenient if you are making several trips.
- For the suburban train, buy a ticket for your journey — the MCD and Aeroexpress have their own fare structures, so do not assume one ticket covers everything.
- Taxis and ride-hailing are straightforward, and a taxi into Moscow takes roughly twenty minutes in good conditions; for local hops, a taxi is the simplest choice late in the evening when buses have stopped.
- Ridesharing services such as BlaBlaCar operate on the Odintsovo–Moscow corridor a few times a day if your timing is flexible.
- Some rail stations and shuttle stops sit a kilometre or more from particular destinations — check which station or stop is nearest your actual destination before setting out on foot.

Odintsovo's sights are few but varied. The Grebnevskaya Church is a pretty 18th-century church worth a look, and the Old Brick Factory, a 19th-century brickworks, now houses a museum of local history where you can learn about the town's past. In the New Trekhgorka district you can wander among murals created for the Urban Morphogenesis Festival in 2019, painted by artists from many countries.Three days in Odintsovo
Day one: Base yourself in Odintsovo, a city in Moscow Oblast and the administrative centre of Odintsovsky District, and use it as your launch point for the region. Start with the Grebnevskaya Church, then wander the streets around Marshal Biryuzov Street to get your bearings. In the evening, head into Moscow, which sits close by and is easily reached by train from Belorussky Train Station or by bus from Kievsky Bus Station; the MCD and marshrutkas also connect the two, and Troika and Ediny cards work on Moscow transport. If you arrive by air, the Aeroexpress, taxis, ridesharing and BlaBlaCar are among the ways to reach the city.

Day two: Give the day to Odintsovo's industrial and creative side. Visit the Old Brick Factory, then continue to New Trekhgorka, where the Urban Morphogenesis Festival has brought street art and urban culture to the area. Both sit within the city, so you can move between them without leaving Odintsovo.

Day three: Spend your final day moving between Odintsovo and Moscow. Use the MCD or a marshrutka for a straightforward connection, or take the train from Belorussky Train Station if you are coming from the Moscow side; Kiev Station and Kievsky Bus Station are other useful transport points, with buses and marshrutkas serving the route. Keep the day flexible and let the transport links set your pace.
