Taytay
Getting around
Taytay has no rail, metro, or tram network of its own, so getting around depends on road-based public transport. Jeepneys are the workhorse: they link the town's markets with neighbouring Rizal towns and with Metro Manila rail stations, and they also serve the Angono–Binangonan corridor, so routes overlap and you can often catch a ride heading in either direction along the same road. Buses are the more direct option from Metro Manila, particularly from the Recto area, where you can wait at Isetann Recto for Taytay-bound services. The LRT-2 line is the key rail link feeding into these jeepney routes, but it never enters Taytay itself — the rail gets you close and jeepneys complete the final leg.
- Via Pasig-Marikina station: take LRT-2 from Recto Station, alight at Pasig-Marikina, then transfer to jeepneys bound for Binangonan and get off at Taytay market.
- Via Sta. Lucia/Emerald station: ride the LRT to Sta. Lucia/Emerald, then take a jeepney to Angono/Binangonan or to Taytay, heading for either the "Luma" (old) or "Bagong" (new) palengke.
- From Isetann Recto: catch a bus bound for Taytay.
Know which market you're aiming for before you board. Taytay has at least two public markets referenced locally as "Luma" and "Bagong" palengke, plus the main Taytay market, and these serve as the town's main drop-off and transfer points. Tell the driver your destination so you're dropped at the right spot. If your destination is near a market, walking from your jeepney or bus stop is likely the simplest approach. Plan around jeepneys, buses, and the LRT-2 plus jeepney combination rather than assuming app-based ride-hailing will be readily available.
Three days in Taytay
Day one: Base yourself in Taytay and get your bearings in Rizal. Jeepneys run through the town and connect you onward, while buses and the LRT serve the wider Metro Manila network if you are coming from the city. From Isetann Recto you can pick up the LRT at Recto Station, and routes via Pasig or via Sta. Lucia bring you into the province. Keep the first day simple: walk the streets of Taytay, eat where the locals eat, and sort out how you will move around for the next two days.
Day two: Head out to the neighbouring towns of Angono and Binangonan, both within Rizal and reachable by jeepney. Angono is known for its arts scene, and Binangonan sits along the water. If you prefer an urban day instead, take the LRT or a bus into Metro Manila and explore the area around Recto, including Isetann Recto, or continue to Marikina and Pasig. Plan your return before dark so you are not stranded when the jeepneys thin out.
Day three: Use your last day to see more of Taytay itself, then decide whether to loop back through Metro Manila or push on to Emerald, Sta. Lucia, Luma or Bagong. Know that jeepneys are the backbone of local travel here, with buses and the LRT filling in the longer legs. Tell yourself to leave buffer time, because traffic in Rizal and Metro Manila can swallow an afternoon. If you have time left, a slow wander beats a rushed checklist.
