Ijok
Introduction
Ijok is a mukim in the Kuala Selangor District of Selangor, Malaysia, set along Federal Route 54. This stretch of road is your way in and through the area, making it a straightforward stop for travellers moving around the district by car.
Getting around
Pekan Ijok is compact and low-key, centred on a main street lined with shops and small buildings on both sides, so the core is easy to cover on foot. Outside the town centre the surrounding area turns rural — smallholdings, vegetable farms and former rubber plantation land — and is not designed for pedestrians, so you will need a vehicle for anything beyond the main street. If you are connecting to public transport, note that the nearest bus stop, Caledonia Avenue (Opp), is roughly a 15-minute walk away; keep that walk in mind when planning connections.
Ijok has no rail, metro or tram station of its own. The main bus route serving the area is T155, an MRT Feeder Bus (Rapid KL) service running between Pinewood Court and MRT Sungai Buloh, and also calling at Perumahan Kota Puteri 8 and Kuarters Depot Simpanan Pertahanan; buses run roughly every 30 minutes. MRT Sungai Buloh is the key interchange for onward travel toward Kuala Lumpur, with KTM Komuter trains and MRT and LRT services across the wider area. There is no direct bus between Kampong Ijok and Kuala Lumpur — every bus option requires at least one transfer, for example taking T155 to Kuarters Depot Simpanan Pertahanan and changing to bus 100 from The Store Sungai Buloh to Hub Lebuh Pudu, or continuing by train from MRT Sungai Buloh. For the fastest transit option into Kuala Lumpur, take a taxi from Kampong Ijok to Kuang, then catch the KTM Komuter train from Kuang to Kuala Lumpur. Taxis are practical for reaching the nearest rail stations, and ride-hailing apps are widely used across the Kuala Lumpur and Selangor area, though availability in a small town like Ijok may be more limited than in the city, so it is worth booking ahead where possible. If you have access to a car, driving is the cheapest and fastest way to cover the route between Ijok and Kuala Lumpur.
Three days in Ijok
Day one: Start in Pekan Ijok, the small town centre that gives the area its name, and get your bearings on foot before wandering out towards Kampong Ijok, where the pace slows to a village rhythm. Ijok sits within Kuala Selangor District in Selangor, so the surrounding countryside is part of the appeal; use the Federal Route connections to reach the outlying settlements. If you are arriving by public transport, the MRT Feeder Bus and Rapid KL services link the area with MRT Sungai Buloh, and taxis are available for the last stretch.

Day two: Use the rail network to widen your range. From MRT Sungai Buloh you can connect onward towards Kuala Lumpur, where the MRT, LRT and KTM Komuter give you plenty of options for a day in the city. Closer to Ijok, the residential areas of Perumahan Kota Puteri and Kuarters Depot Simpanan Pertahanan are worth passing through to see how the district is laid out. For onward buses, Hub Lebuh Pudu is the city-side interchange to keep in mind.

Day three: Keep the final day local and practical. The Store Sungai Buloh is a handy stop for supplies, and the Sungai Buloh area around Pinewood Court and Caledonia Avenue makes for an easy stroll before you head back. Kuang is another nearby settlement to pass through if you are looping around the district. Check your connections in advance — whether by MRT Feeder Bus, Rapid KL or taxi — so the return leg to MRT Sungai Buloh or into Kuala Lumpur goes smoothly.
