Siheungdong
Getting around
You can get around Siheungdong without a car. Buses, the subway and taxis cover most practical trips, and walking handles the short hops between stops, stations, shops and restaurants. The key to the whole system is a rechargeable transit card: you tap in once and transfers between buses and the subway within the transfer window are free, so a multi-leg journey doesn't cost you a fresh fare each time. The subway is the fastest way to cover longer distances across Seoul, the dense bus network fills in the neighbourhood-level gaps, and taxis are the straightforward choice for direct door-to-door trips, late nights or when you're carrying luggage.
If you're out after midnight, the Owl Bus night service covers the hours when regular buses and the subway are limited. The route relevant to Siheungdong is N51, running between Siheung-dong and Hagye-dong at roughly half-hour intervals from late night into the early morning, charged at the standard card fare with free transfers between routes within one hour. Before heading out, check real-time information through TOPIS, which publishes updates by website and mobile app, or read the live arrival displays at bus information terminals (BIT) at the stops — especially useful at night when intervals are longer. If you're arriving by air, connect to the urban transit network and continue by subway or bus; integrated fares mean the airport connection and your local leg don't cost you twice.
Three days in Siheungdong
Day one: Start by getting your bearings in Siheungdong, a neighbourhood on the Seoul subway network. Use the buses and the subway to reach the area, and rely on TOPIS for real-time information on how services are running before you set out. Take your time walking the streets to get a feel for the district, and keep the Owl Bus in mind for getting around later in the evening.
Day two: Head out towards Hagye to broaden your view of the area, checking bus and subway connections before you go. Use TOPIS to plan your route and to check for any disruption along the way. Return to Siheungdong in the evening, and if you are out late, the Owl Bus is the service to look for.
Day three: Spend your final day moving between Siheungdong and the wider city, using the buses and subway as your main way of getting around. Check TOPIS before you leave so you know how your connections are running, and plan your return with the Owl Bus if your evening runs long.
