Gijang
Introduction
Gijang County sits in northern Busan, positioned between Haeundae-gu and the city of Ulsan. As a county rather than a district, it forms part of Busan while keeping its own identity within the metropolitan area.
Three days in Gijang
Day one: Base yourself in Gijang County, the coastal county on the edge of Busan, and spend your first hours getting a feel for its seaside villages and open shoreline. Gijang sits between Busan and Ulsan, so it makes an easy starting point for exploring the surrounding coast. Use the day to settle in, walk the waterfront, and eat simply at a local seafood restaurant.
Day two: Head toward Haeundae, the busy beach district of Busan, for a change of pace. The train and metro links make the trip straightforward, and you can spend the day on the sand, along the promenade, and among the surrounding streets before returning to Gijang in the evening.
Day three: Look north toward Ulsan and the coast in between, using Gijang as your base for a final day of slow travel. Keep the itinerary loose, revisit whichever part of the county you liked most, and leave time for one last meal by the water before you move on.
