Molveno
Introduction
Molveno is a municipality in Trentino, in the northern Italian region of Trentino-Alto Adige/Südtirol, set about 40 kilometres northwest of Trento. Its setting on Lake Molveno has made it a holiday destination, with the Brenta Dolomites close by and a connection to the National Park Adamello Brenta.
What to see and do
Molveno's centrepiece is Lake Molveno, the body of water the town sits beside and the natural focus of any stay. Base your days around the lake itself, whether you want to walk its shores or simply take in the mountain setting.
Three days in Molveno
Day one: Settle into Molveno and get your bearings around Lake Molveno, with the Brenta Dolomites rising above the water. Take an easy walk along the shore and let the mountain setting set the pace for the days ahead. In the evening, eat Italian in the village and rest up for the trails.
Day two: Head into the National Park Adamello Brenta, the protected landscape that surrounds Molveno and the Brenta Dolomites. Choose a hike that suits your energy and spend the day among the peaks and woods. Back in the village, a relaxed dinner in Trentino style rounds things off.
Day three: Use Molveno as your base for a wider look at the region, with Trento and the Alto Adige / Südtirol within reach for a change of scene. Return to the lake for a final afternoon by the water before you move on.
