Borazjan
Introduction
Borazjan is a city in the Central District of Dashtestan County, in Bushehr province, Iran. It serves as the capital of both the county and the district, which makes it the administrative centre for the surrounding area rather than a quiet outlying town.
Getting around
Getting around Borazjan is entirely road-based: there is no passenger rail, metro or tram service, so plan on taxis, buses and private cars. Bimarestan Street, the city's main street, is the handiest landmark for orienting yourself, and it's where you'll see plenty of local life, including young people riding motorcycles in their free time. Walking works well for the central streets, with Bimarestan Street as the natural spine, but the climate is dry and hot, so save longer walks for the cooler parts of the day and carry water. Treat walking as a way to explore the centre rather than to cross the whole city.
Borazjan is one of the passenger terminals in Bushehr Province, so long-distance buses connect the town with the wider region; details of its own terminal, routes and facilities aren't documented, so ask locally or check on arrival. Ride-hailing apps aren't described here, so rely on conventional taxis and hired cars arranged locally, for example through your accommodation. Agree on the fare before you set off and keep cash in rial on hand, as cards may not always work. If you're arriving by air, Borazjan has no airport of its own; fly into Bushehr, about 70 km away, then take a taxi directly or a bus onward. The Bushehr terminal sits on the Bushehr–Borazjan Highway, a convenient stop between the airport and Borazjan, with ticketing offices and separate boarding platforms per company; buy your ticket there and arrive early for popular routes. Dress lightly for the hot, dry climate but bring a sweater for air-conditioned buses, and allow extra time in the hot season.
Three days in Borazjan
Day one: Start in Borazjan, the centre of Dashtestan County in Bushehr Province. Walk the streets of the Central District to get your bearings, and use Bimarestan Street as a starting point for an orientation stroll. Dress modestly, as you would elsewhere in Iran, and take your time rather than rushing between sights.
Day two: Use Borazjan as your base for exploring the wider area. The Bushehr Highway links the town with Bushehr, so you can ride toward the coast and back in a day. Agree on your transport arrangements before you set out, and treat the journey as part of the day rather than a mere transfer.
Day three: Slow down and get to know Borazjan itself. Walking remains the best way to see how the town fits into Bushehr Province, and if you are heading onward, the Bushehr Highway is the obvious route. If you are unsure about anything, ask locally and agree the details first.
