Malayer
Introduction
Malayer is a city in the Central District of Malayer County, in Hamadan province, Iran. It serves as the capital of both the county and the district.
When to go
Malayer has a hot-summer Mediterranean climate, which splits the year into a hot dry season and a cooler wetter one. In summer the weather turns hot and largely dry, with strong sun and little rain, so it makes sense to plan your outdoor sightseeing for the early morning or the evening rather than the middle of the day.
Winters are the cool, wetter part of the year, and most of the annual rain falls in this window. Days are chilly and damp, so bring warm layers and rain protection if you visit then.
Three days in Malayer
Day one: Begin in Malayer, in the Central District of Malayer County. Take your time getting oriented in the city itself, then use it as your base for the days ahead. Winters here are bitterly cold, so plan your walking accordingly.
Day two: Head out into the surrounding area of Malayer County, keeping the Central District as your reference point. The climate is Mediterranean in character, and days can be warm, so pace yourself between stops.
Day three: If you want a change of scene, Hamadan and Iran more broadly lie within reach, but Malayer itself rewards a final unhurried day. It is worth leaving time simply to sit with what you have seen before you move on.
