Hathras

Introduction

Hathras is a historical city in Uttar Pradesh, India, and serves as the headquarters of Hathras district. The district was formed on 3 May 1997 by merging parts of Aligarh and Mathura, and it falls within the Aligarh Division.

When to go

Hathras has a monsoon-influenced humid subtropical climate, with a hot summer followed by a humid monsoon. Summer runs from April through May and brings the heat of north-central India, so plan your days around the hottest part of the day if you visit then.

The monsoon begins in late June and continues until early October, bringing high humidity along with wet conditions and muggy air through those months.

Three days in Hathras

Day one: Start in Hathras itself, in Uttar Pradesh, India, and get your bearings in the city before the heat builds. April through June is summer here, so plan your walking for the cooler parts of the day and rest during the hottest hours. In the evening, take a stroll and settle into the pace of the town.

Day two: Use Hathras as your base for a wider look at the region. Aligarh lies within Aligarh Division, and Mathura is another city within reach, so you can shape the day around one of these destinations and return to Hathras in the evening.

Day three: Keep the final day close to Hathras and take it at an easy pace. If you are travelling in May or October, conditions are likely to be more comfortable than in the height of summer, so use the time for a last unhurried look around before you move on.
