Three days in Shantipur

Day one: Start in Shantipur itself, the town in Nadia district of West Bengal whose lanes are known for their handloom weaving. Take your time wandering the weaving quarters and watching the looms at work, and look for the distinctive saris the town produces. Keep the pace easy and let the rhythm of the place set your schedule.

Day two: Use Shantipur as your base for a wider look at the district. Head to Ranaghat, a nearby town in Nadia, to see another side of the area's daily life and markets. Return to Shantipur in the evening.

Day three: Spend your last day on the town's cultural associations. Shantipur is linked with the Daak and Garh traditions, and with the era of Raja Krishnachandra, so seek out the local landmarks and stories connected to these before you leave.
