Navsari
Introduction
Navsari sits in the state of Gujarat in India, on the stretch of country between Surat and Mumbai. It serves as the administrative headquarters of Navsari District and is a twin city of Surat, which lies about 37 km to the south.
The village of Dandi, near Navsari, was the focal point of the Salt March led by Mahatma Gandhi during India's civil disobedience movement, giving the area a lasting place in the story of the country's independence struggle.
Three days in Navsari
Day one: Start in Navsari itself, the city in Gujarat, India, that gives Navsari District its name. Use your first day to get your bearings in the city and its surrounding district before venturing further afield.
Day two: Head to Dandi, the coastal village tied to the Salt March led by Mahatma Gandhi. It sits within Navsari District, so you can reach it from Navsari without leaving the area.
Day three: Look towards the wider region. Surat and Mumbai are the larger cities to keep in mind as you plan the next leg of your journey through Gujarat.
