Dalupura

Getting around

Within Dalupura itself, walking is the natural way to get around: the village pockets, temples, markets and street-food stalls sit close together and are best discovered on foot. Bear in mind that the lanes are narrow and traffic can be heavy, so stay alert, and for longer stretches or after dark it's wiser to take a rickshaw or taxi. The neighbourhood is quiet at night with little nightlife, so plan evening trips into central Delhi if you want late options.

Dalupura has no metro station of its own, so for anything beyond the neighbourhood you'll rely on a short rickshaw ride to a nearby hub, then the metro, buses, rickshaws or app taxis. The most convenient metro hubs are Anand Vihar, a major interchange, along with Laxmi Nagar and Mayur Vihar. DTC and private cluster buses serve east Delhi and the Ghaziabad corridors from Anand Vihar ISBT and Shahdara; buses are cheaper than the metro but slower in peak traffic, and both AC and non-AC services run. Auto-rickshaws are the workhorse for short and medium hops and the usual last-mile link from a metro or bus stop — insist on the meter or agree the fare first. For very short trips, e-rickshaws and cycle-rickshaws are the cheapest and most convenient choice; carry small change and confirm the price up front. App-based taxis such as Ola and Uber are widely available and the most comfortable option, especially with luggage or late at night, though surge pricing applies at busy times. If you prefer a metered taxi, confirm the meter or agree the fare before departing. Arriving by air, Indira Gandhi International Airport connects via the Airport Express or Magenta Line metro, or by taxi and app cab; if you arrive by train, Anand Vihar Terminal is the most convenient station for Dalupura and has an integrated metro station.

Three days in Dalupura

Day one: Arriving at Indira Gandhi International Airport, take the Airport Express or the Magenta Line to reach Dalupura, then settle into the neighbourhood and get your bearings. Bear in mind that Anand Vihar ISBT and Anand Vihar Terminal are useful transport hubs if you are coming in from Ghaziabad or Delhi. For local movement, the DTC network, the AC bus, and app-based cabs such as Ola and Uber all serve the area, while an auto is handy for shorter hops. Spend the rest of the day walking the streets of Dalupura and getting a feel for its everyday rhythm.

Day two: Use Dalupura as your base for exploring the surrounding east Delhi neighbourhoods. Laxmi Nagar, Mayur Vihar, and Shahdara are all within reach, each with its own character and street life. If you are heading into Delhi, the DTC and the AC bus make the trip straightforward, and app-based cabs or an auto can fill the gaps. Return to Dalupura in the evening.

Day three: Keep your final day close to Dalupura, revisiting the corners you liked and picking up anything you missed. If you are departing from Anand Vihar ISBT or Anand Vihar Terminal, allow time for the journey, and if you are flying out, the Airport Express and the Magenta Line connect you back toward Indira Gandhi International Airport. For any last errands around the neighbourhood, the DTC, an AC bus, an auto, or a cab through Ola or Uber will get you there.
