Guntakal

Introduction

Guntakal, known natively as Guntakallu, is a town in Anantapur district of Andhra Pradesh. It serves as the headquarters of both Guntakal mandal and Guntakal revenue division, and it is also the headquarters of the Guntakal Railway Division of South Coast Railway (SCoR). The town's railway station is a vital junction for express passenger trains as well as logistics and freight transport, making Guntakal a natural stop for travellers moving through the region by rail.

Beyond its role as a transport hub, Guntakal is tied to a well-known pilgrimage site: the Sri Nettikanti Anjaneya Swamy Temple in Kasapuram, famous for its "one-eyed" deity and the belief that the Lord's divine gaze looks directly at his devotees.

Three days in Guntakal

Day one: Arrive in Guntakal, a town in Anantapur district of Andhra Pradesh, and use it as your base for the days ahead. Take your time settling in and getting a feel for the town before planning the rest of your stay around the railway connections that make Guntakal a natural stopping point in the region.

Day two: Travel to Kasapuram to visit the Sri Nettikanti Anjaneya Swamy Temple, dedicated to Lord Hanuman. Plan the outing around the temple's rhythms rather than a fixed schedule, and return to Guntakal for the evening.

Day three: Spend your last day in Guntakal itself, perhaps timing your departure to take in something of the town's railway life, with the Guntakal Railway Division of South Coast Railway (SCoR) forming part of the wider network through Andhra Pradesh.
