Cileunyi
Introduction
Cileunyi is a district in the Bandung Regency of West Java, sitting immediately east of the city of Bandung. Though it lies outside the city itself, the area is heavily urbanised, so you can expect a built-up, busy character rather than a rural one, with the provincial capital close at hand.
The terrain is varied, running from lower ground along valleys and riverbanks up to hillsides and mountain peaks, with elevations spanning roughly 600 to 1,200 metres above sea level. That range means the landscape shifts noticeably across the district, and the higher ground sits cooler than the valleys below.
Getting around
Cileunyi sits just outside Bandung's city boundary but functions as an eastern extension of the urban area, so you'll be using greater Bandung's transport. Local movement is built around the angkot, the minibus: Angkutan Kota Bandung runs within the city and Angkutan Kabupaten Bandung covers the regency that includes Cileunyi. The key line for the district is Route 10, the Cicaheum–Cileunyi service, which links Gateway Cicadas with Terminal Cileunyi and runs around the clock every day, with departures roughly every ten minutes. The full run takes on the order of forty minutes, though traffic can stretch it. Fares are typically paid in cash to the driver or conductor on board, so keep small notes and coins handy. Other Angkutan Kota Bandung lines are useful for heading further into the city, including routes linking Cicaheum with Leuwipanjang, Stasiun Hall with Ciumbeuleuit and with Sarijadi, Sederhana with Cimindi, Ciwastra with Ujungberung, and Padalarang with Rajamandala. For larger buses, Trans Metro Bandung, Trans Metro Pasundan (Teman Bus) and DAMRI serve the wider area.
Bandung's rail network is a KAI Commuter commuter service rather than a metro or tram, and for a visitor based in Cileunyi the train is best treated as a way of reaching Bandung's main stations and connecting onward, not as a way of moving around the district itself; buy tickets through the operator's normal channels at the station before you travel. Ride-hailing apps are the most straightforward option for door-to-door trips, particularly to the district's more spread-out, higher-elevation neighbourhoods where fixed routes may not run close by, and conventional taxis are also available. Walking is limited and uneven: the terrain rises from valley floors and riverbanks to hillsides and peaks, so gradients and distances between built-up pockets work against it. Walking is realistic for short errands near where you're staying, but expect to rely on angkot, buses or ride-hailing for anything longer. Learn the name Terminal Cileunyi, the local transport hub and anchor point for Route 10, and allow extra time for any journey, since hilly topography and urban traffic both slow things down. If your destination is up in the hills, plan on a ride-hailing car for the final stretch rather than expecting a fixed route to drop you at the door. From the airport, use a taxi or ride-hailing car directly, or take an airport bus or train into Bandung and connect via Route 10 or another bus or commuter train; because Route 10 runs around the clock, arriving late in the evening is not a barrier to completing the last leg by public transport.
Three days in Cileunyi
Day one: Start in Cileunyi itself, the district in Bandung Regency, West Java, that gives this stretch of the eastern approach to Bandung its name. Use the Terminal Cileunyi as your orientation point, then get a feel for how people move here by trying the local angkutan kota Bandung and angkutan kabupaten Bandung on a short route. If you are coming from Bandung, the Cicaheum and Gateway Cicadas terminals are the natural links toward this side of the regency, and fares are shared rather than fixed per trip in the way you might expect. Keep the first day simple: walk, learn the route names, and let the transport network show you how Cileunyi connects to the rest of the region.

Day two: Ride into Bandung proper and see how the city's angkutan network fans out from its terminals. Other angkutan kota Bandung routes link Leuwipanjang, Stasiun Hall, Ciumbeuleuit, Sarijadi, Sederhana, Cimindi, Ciwastra, Ujungberung, Padalarang and Rajamandala, so you can string together a day of short hops rather than one long journey. For longer legs, the Trans Metro Bandung, Trans Metro Pasundan, Teman Bus, DAMRI and KAI Commuter services give you alternatives to the angkutan. Ride one route, walk a stretch, then ride another; that is the rhythm of a day here.

Day three: From Cileunyi, use the transport links back toward Bandung Regency and West Java more broadly, choosing the angkutan or the larger bus and rail services depending on how far you want to go. If you have time, revisit a terminal you passed through earlier and watch the routes come and go; it is the clearest way to understand how Cileunyi, Bandung and the surrounding regency fit together. Finish with a walk near where you started, and learn one more local route before you leave.
