Zuglo

Introduction

Zugló is the 14th District of Budapest, Hungary. As one of the capital's districts, it forms part of the city's administrative fabric and gives you a base within Budapest rather than a separate town to visit.

Three days in Zuglo

Day one: Start by getting your bearings in Zugló, the district on the Pest side of Budapest. Wander its broad avenues and leafy residential streets to pick up the everyday rhythm of the area, then head toward City Park for open space and a sense of the district's greener side. Keep the pace easy and let the neighbourhood set the tone for your stay in Hungary's capital.

Day two: Give the day to City Park and its surroundings, where you can walk at length and take in the mix of open lawns, water and formal landscaping. Break up the walking with time in the district's cafés and squares, and use the afternoon to explore more of Zugló's quieter streets.

Day three: Return to whichever part of the district appealed most, whether that's the park or the residential avenues, and spend your last hours on a slow circuit of the neighbourhood. Round off your time in Zugló with a meal in the district before moving on to the rest of Budapest.
