Getting around

Getting around Amanfrom is almost entirely a bus-and-taxi affair. There is no rail, metro or tram network serving the town or the surrounding area, so plan on road-based transport. The main structured option is the bus stop in town, served by lines run by the AMA Department of Transport: line 18 to Abeka Lapaz, 64 to Abossey-Okai, 301 to Korle Bu, 388 to Accra New Town, and 435 to both Kasoa and Odorkor. Buses start early and run until around the end of the day, and on Saturday mornings departures can come as often as every ten minutes, so you rarely need to plan far ahead for the first part of the day. Several agencies operate buses across Accra, so don't assume one unified system or a single ticket type covers everything — you pay as you board each service, so keep small change handy and confirm your route and fare with the conductor or driver before setting off.

Three days in Amanfrom

Day one: Start by getting your bearings in Amanfrom itself, then head out along the routes served by the AMA Department and Transport connections that link the area with Abeka Lapaz, Abossey Okai and Korle Bu. Buses run towards Accra New Town and Kasoa, so you can shape the day around whichever direction suits you. Keep the pace easy and use the first day to learn how the transport network fits together.

Day two: Push further into Accra and its western and northern edges. Odorkor, Dansoman and North Kaneshie are all reachable, and Amasaman sits within range for a longer run out. If you time your trip for a Saturday, expect several services to be busier than on a weekday. Beyond the main roads, the Washing Bay is a useful landmark to orient yourself around.

Day three: Use your last day for the eastern side, reaching Lashibi and Legon Campus by bus where services allow. Don't overplan the final hours; leave room to return to Amanfrom and sort out any remaining transport needs. Specific routes and timings are best confirmed locally on the day, since services vary.
