Reading

Introduction

Reading is a town and borough in Berkshire, England, and serves as the county town of Berkshire. It sits in the Thames Valley at the confluence of the rivers Thames and Kennet, and its built-up area extends beyond the Borough of Reading into neighbouring local authority areas.

Three days in Reading

Day one: Start in Reading itself, the largest town in Berkshire, and get your bearings in the Thames Valley. Walk along the Thames and the Kennet, the two rivers that meet here, and take in the character of the Borough as you go.

Day two: Stay with the rivers. Follow the Thames through Reading and out into the surrounding Berkshire countryside, then trace the Kennet in the other direction. The Thames Valley is the setting for both, so let the water set your pace.

Day three: Use Reading as your base for the rest of England. It sits in the Thames Valley with the Thames and the Kennet running through it, and the Borough itself rewards a slower look before you move on.
