Hamburg-Nord
Introduction
Hamburg-Nord is one of the seven boroughs that make up the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg, in northern Germany. It sits within the wider city rather than standing apart from it, so you can treat it as one part of a larger Hanseatic whole.
Three days in Hamburg-Nord
Day one: Start by getting your bearings in Hamburg, the Free and Hanseatic City in Germany. Spend your first hours wandering the northern districts that make up Nord, letting the scale of the city settle around you before you commit to any single stop. Use the day to move between neighbourhoods on foot and by transit, noting the character of each one as you pass through.
Day two: Give the day to Nord itself. It is one of the districts that shapes Hamburg's everyday life, so treat it as a place to explore rather than a route to somewhere else. Walk its streets, pause where the city opens up, and let the Free and Hanseatic City's northern side set the pace. Keep the itinerary loose enough to follow whatever catches your attention.
Day three: Return to Hamburg as a whole, using what you noticed in Nord to read the rest of the city. Fill the day with the parts of the Free and Hanseatic City you have not yet seen, then loop back through Nord before you finish. Three days is enough to get a feel for the district and its place within Germany's second city, even if it is not enough to know it fully.
