Bello

Introduction

Bello is a city and municipality in Antioquia Department, Colombia, and a suburb of Medellín, the department capital. It forms part of the Metropolitan Area of the Aburrá Valley.

The municipality is bordered on the north by San Pedro de los Milagros, on the east by Copacabana, on the south by Medellín, and on the west by Medellín and San Jerónimo.

Three days in Bello

Day one: Base yourself in Bello and get your bearings in the town centre, where the parish church of San Pedro anchors the streets around it. Bello sits within the Metropolitan Area of Medellín, in the Aburrá Valley, so the surrounding hills and the pull of the larger city shape the rhythm of the day. Use the afternoon to settle into the local pace rather than rushing onward.

Day two: Head south to Medellín, the metropolitan anchor of Antioquia Department, and give the city a full day. Back in Bello by evening, you can eat simply and rest, since the two are close enough to treat as one continuous stretch of your trip.

Day three: Push out to the smaller municipalities that share the valley and its approaches. Copacabana and San Jerónimo sit within reach, and Milagros offers another stop if you want to keep the day gentle. Colombia's Antioquia Department rewards slow movement between towns, so let the distances set the shape of your final day.
