Chongming

Getting there

You can reach Chongming Island via a highway that utilizes a network of bridges and tunnels to connect the Pudong district of Shanghai to Changxing Island before crossing over to the main island. This route continues across the North bank of the Yangtze River toward cities in Jiangsu province, including Nantong and Nanjing.

Alternatively, you can travel by ferry, which connects the islands to one another and to both sides of the Yangtze. One ferry route links to the Baoyang Road terminal in the Baoshan District, located near a metro station. While a planned metro line is under construction to connect Pudong to the larger islands, the area is not yet integrated into the Shanghai metro system. The island also features small ports for fishing boats and ferries, as well as a small airport that does not host scheduled passenger flights.
