Changyuan
Introduction
Changyuan is a county-level city in the east of Henan province, China. It sits on the province's eastern edge, bordering Shandong province to the east.
For administrative purposes, Changyuan was formerly under the prefecture-level city of Xinxiang. Since 1 January 2014, it has been directly administered by the province.
Three days in Changyuan
Day one: Begin in Changyuan itself, a city in Henan province, China. Take your time getting oriented, since the pace here is your own to set. In January the weather turns bitterly cold, so plan to spend your first day indoors where you can, warming up between short walks and saving longer stretches outside for later in your trip.
Day two: Head north toward Xinxiang, which sits close enough to Changyuan to make a comfortable day of it. Shandong lies to the east if you feel like extending your route, though it is worth keeping the day manageable given the cold. Return to Changyuan in the evening and rest.
Day three: Use your last day to revisit whatever you liked most around Changyuan, or to simply wander and take in daily life in Henan. Since January keeps the days short and the air sharp, start early and keep your plans flexible. It is a quiet way to close out three days in this part of China.
