Sanshui

Introduction

Sanshui is an urban district of Foshan in Guangdong province, China. It was formerly romanized as Samsui or Samshui, and it is known for the "Samsui women", emigrants who went to Singapore to labour, and for a large fireworks explosion that occurred in 2008.

Getting around

Buses are the backbone of local movement in Sanshui. Sanshui Square is the main hub and terminus for many routes, making it the natural place to start, transfer, or finish a trip, with Huifeng Garden a useful second stop nearby. Routes fan out from the square area to residential neighbourhoods, industrial parks, a hot spring resort, a forest park, and rail stations, so you can reach places such as Sanshui Forest Park, Baiwei Avenue, Qingqi Terminal, Danzao Bus Station, Cuikeng Village, Dongying Terminal, Leping Terminal, the Railway Station, the Sanshui Hot Spring Resort, the Culture Park, and university gates. One cross-city service, Guangfo City Bus 4, runs toward Luochongwei Bus Station and links in the direction of Guangzhou. Fares are not published in the sources used here, so check a transit app such as Moovit for current routes, times, and prices, and confirm the exact service before boarding, since some route numbers have variants or shuttles.

Walking works well in central Sanshui, particularly around Sanshui Square, where stops, shops, and services cluster closely together and the Huifeng Garden stop is only a few minutes away; outside the core, distances grow and the bus network becomes the more sensible choice. For longer journeys, conventional rail is a realistic option: Sanshui sits on the Guangzhou–Maoming line, and major expressways serve the district, including the G15 Shenyang–Haikou Expressway toward Kaiping and the southern suburbs of Foshan, and the G55 Erenhot–Guangzhou Expressway with direct access to downtown Guangzhou. National Highway 321 links toward Zhaoqing, and National Highway 324 also passes through the area. Foshan Metro Line 4 is under construction and planned to serve Sanshui with an elevated section through the urban core, including stations mentioned as Xiqing Boulevard and Sanshui Hospital, but until it opens you should not count on metro service within the district itself. No airport serving Sanshui or direct airport transfer is identified in the source; arriving by air would typically mean reaching the district via Guangzhou and continuing by rail, expressway coach, or road, so confirm current transfer options locally or through a transit app before travelling.

Three days in Sanshui

Day one: Start in Sanshui Square, the central point from which the city's main routes radiate. From there, walk to Huifeng Garden for a slow introduction to the area's greenery, then continue to the Culture Park. Buses and taxis connect these stops, and walking between them is straightforward. In the evening, head to Baiwei Avenue for food.

Day two: Give the day to Sanshui Forest Park, where the walking is the point. Later, if you want to soak, the Sanshui Hot Spring Resort is the place for it. For a change of scene, Cuikeng Village offers a quieter look at local life.

Day three: Use the transport network to range further. Qingqi Terminal, Danzao Bus Station, Dongying Terminal, Leping Terminal and the Railway Station are your departure points, with the Guangfo City Bus and Foshan Metro Line linking Sanshui to Foshan and Guangzhou. Luochongwei Bus Station in Guangzhou is one connection onward. Highways run toward Zhaoqing, Kaiping, Maoming, Shenyang, Haikou and Erenhot, so you can shape the last day around where you head next.
