Getting around
Xiazhen Town Street sits within Shanghai's Tianlin Street subdistrict, so getting around means plugging into the city's wider public transit system. The metro is the backbone here: Lines 1, 3, 4, 9 and 11 all serve the area, and the nearest stations are Yishan Road and Shanghai Indoor Stadium, both a short walk away. Shanghai Swimming Center is a bit farther but still reachable on foot. For most trips, Yishan Road will be your default entry point to the network. Service hours are generous — early-morning first trains and late-night last trains make early starts and late returns feasible. Buy tickets or load a transit card at the station; staff and ticket machines handle fares.
Buses fill the gaps the metro doesn't cover. The closest stop is at City 6th Hospital, an easy walk from the street, with Zhongshan West Road & Yishan Road and Liuzhou Road Yishan Road (No.6 Hospital) also within comfortable walking distance. Routes 171, 830, 89, 926, 931, 93 and the Wanzhou Special Line stop closest to the street; a longer list of routes passes nearby. Some buses run past midnight, which helps for late arrivals. Taxis and ride-hailing are a straightforward fallback for the last leg from a station or for after-hours travel. The surrounding grid — Wending Road, Huashi Road, Yishan Road, Tianchuan Road, Qinzhou North Road, Sanhui Road, Zhongshan West Road, Tianlin East Road, Liuzhou Road and Qinzhoulu Road — makes walking between the street, bus stops and metro stations practical. Comfortable shoes are all you really need.
Three days in Xiazhen
Day one: Start your stay in Xiazhen by getting your bearings along Xiazhen Town Street, the town's main artery and a good introduction to its everyday rhythm. From there, follow the local bus routes that link the centre with the surrounding roads, using the network to reach quieter stretches such as Wending Road and Huashi Road. As evening comes, settle into the comfortable pace of the town and plan the days ahead.
Day two: Devote the morning to the town's wider road network, wandering from Tianlin Street through Tianlin East Road and on towards Tianchuan Road. Continue by way of Sanhui Road and Qinzhou North Road, then follow Qinzhoulu Road and Liuzhou Road to see how the neighbourhoods shift in character. If you prefer not to walk the whole way, taxis and buses make it easy to cover the distances between these streets.
Day three: Use your final day to explore the connections outward, with services such as the Wanzhou Special Line and the routes along Zhongshan West Road and Yishan Road. The Liuzhou Road Yishan Road junction makes a convenient point to orient yourself before heading back. Round off your trip with a last unhurried walk along the streets near your starting point on Xiazhen Town Street.
