Zhenping
Getting around
< p>Before you plan any journeys, confirm which Zhenping you are actually heading to: the name refers to a county in Henan, a county in Shaanxi, and historically to Jiaoling County in Guangdong, as well as to a station on the Shanghai Metro. The concrete transport information below applies to Zhenping Road Station in Shanghai. If your trip involves that station, the metro is the backbone of how you will get around. Zhenping Road Station sits on Line 7, which connects you to the wider network. The system is transfer-based, so reaching central destinations usually means changing lines partway: to get to The Bund, ride Line 7 to Jing'an Temple Station, transfer to Line 2, and continue to East Nanjing Road, from where it is a short walk. Fares are inexpensive and paid per journey, and trains on this kind of route run frequently, with departures roughly every ten minutes. Allow extra time for the transfer, and note that Shanghai Metro enquiries can be made on (86) 021-64370000.< p>Buses fill in the gaps, particularly late at night when you may not want to rely on the metro. Shanghai Airport Authority operates Night Bus Line 316 overnight every day, running from Changshou Road/Changde Road to East Yan'an Road/The Bund roughly every thirty minutes, at a low flat fare comparable to a metro ride; for that corridor it is the only direct bus option. Taxis are plentiful and, for shorter hops across the city centre, competitive with public transport on both time and cost, with several major operators serving the city. Walking works for shorter central journeys, but a cross-city walk of several miles can take well over an hour, so a sensible pattern is to take the metro or a taxi to within a comfortable distance of your destination and cover the final stretch on foot. From the airport, there is no dedicated rail link described here, so your practical options are the metro, the overnight bus if you land late, or a taxi for door-to-door convenience.
Three days in Zhenping
Day one: Begin in Zhenping itself, a county seat in Henan, and use it as your base for the days ahead. Note that the name also belongs to a station on the Shanghai Metro, so check your tickets carefully before you set out. If you are arriving from Shaanxi, Jiaoling County or Guangdong, plan your connections in advance, as the routes are long and indirect.
Day two: Travel to Shanghai and orient yourself around the Zhenping Road Station area. From there you can reach The Bund, Jing Temple Station, East Nanjing Road and Changshou Road, with Changde Road and East Yan Road also within the network. Fares are low, and buses, Night Bus Line services, taxis and walking will all get you around; allow extra time at peak hours.
Day three: Return to Zhenping, or continue onward by air using the Shanghai Airport Authority's facilities. If you are heading back toward Henan, Shaanxi, Jiaoling County or Guangdong, confirm your onward transport before you leave, and keep your metro line and station names to hand so you do not confuse the Shanghai Zhenping Road Station with the county itself.
