Marcory
Introduction
Marcory is a suburb of Abidjan, Ivory Coast, and one of the city's ten urban communes. It sits entirely south of the Ébrié Lagoon, along with Treichville, Koumassi, and Port-Bouët.
Getting around
Marcory sits entirely south of the Ébrié Lagoon, alongside Treichville, Koumassi and Port-Bouët, so treat the water as your main planning constraint: trips within the commune and to its southern neighbours are short, while anything on the north side of the lagoon means crossing rather than walking across town. There is no metro, tram or rail service to rely on here, so plan your movements around road transport.
Shared minibuses, known locally as woro-woro, are a key part of the network. One documented service runs between Adjamé Liberté – 220 logements and Marché Marcory, departing roughly every fifteen minutes daily and taking around seventeen minutes; you pay the driver or conductor on board and board at recognised stops or terminals. Taxis are straightforward and, on that same route, listed as both the cheapest and fastest option at around ten minutes, with ride-hailing apps useful for avoiding haggling. Walking works for short local errands only — a journey of about 10.2 km that takes roughly ten minutes by car or taxi would take about two hours on foot. From the airport in Port-Bouët, you are on the same side of the lagoon as Marcory, so no water crossing is needed; with no specific bus, shuttle or rail link detailed, arrange a taxi or pre-booked ride-hailing pickup, agreeing the fare or confirming the app price before departure and allowing extra time in peak traffic. Use Marché Marcory as a landmark when giving directions, since shared transport runs between named stops rather than numbered stations.
Three days in Marcory
Day one: Start in Marcory, a district of Abidjan in the Ivory Coast. Get your bearings on foot around Marché Marcory, the market that gives the area its everyday rhythm. From there, use Marché Marcory as your base for the day, and let the Lagoon set the pace — Marcory sits close to it, so the water is never far away.

Day two: Head out towards Treichville and Koumassi, neighbouring districts that sit alongside Marcory. Shared taxis are the practical way to move between them, and they run alongside the walking routes you already know. The Port area is part of this same stretch of Abidjan, so the day can move between the market, the water and the port without leaving the city.

Day three: Push further out to Adjamé Libert and Bouët, both reachable from Marcory. Use Marché Marcory again as your starting point before you go, and keep the Lagoon in view as a way of orienting yourself. Taxis and walking cover the ground; the day is simply a matter of linking these places together before returning to Marcory.
