Limeira

Introduction

Limeira sits in the eastern part of the Brazilian state of São Paulo, at an elevation of 588 meters and roughly 154 kilometers from the state capital, São Paulo. It is also about 1011 kilometers from Brasília, the country's capital.

When to go

Limeira has a humid subtropical climate, with warm to hot temperatures all year and a clear split between a wet season and a dry season. The wet half of the year runs from October through March, bringing frequent rain and high humidity alongside the heat. If you visit during these months, plan around afternoon downpours and pack for damp weather.

From April to September, rainfall drops off sharply, giving drier, clearer conditions. Temperatures stay warm to hot overall, but this stretch includes the coldest day on record, so evenings can turn chilly.

Three days in Limeira

Day one: Start in Limeira itself, a Brazilian city in the state of São Paulo. It sits within easy reach of the Rodovia Anhanguera and the Rodovia Bandeirantes, the two highways that connect it to the wider region. Use your first day to get your bearings in the city before planning anything further afield.

Day two: Travel onward to Brasília, the country's capital, which you can reach from Limeira via the same highway network. It is a long journey, so give it a full day rather than trying to squeeze it in alongside other plans.

Day three: Time your visit with the weather in mind. October through March is warm and humid, while from April to September conditions are drier and cooler. If you prefer milder days for walking and sightseeing, aim for the April to September window.
