Favoriten
Introduction
Favoriten is the tenth district of Vienna, lying south of the central districts and bordering Innere Stadt, Wieden and Margareten. It is a densely built, heavily populated part of the city, characterised by its many residential buildings.
Despite its urban density, Favoriten also offers large recreational areas and parks, so you can move between busy residential streets and open green space within the same district.
Three days in Favoriten
Day one: Start your visit in Favoriten, the district south of Vienna's centre. It sits beyond Wieden and Margareten, so you can reach it from the Innere Stadt by heading south through the city. Spend your first day getting your bearings in Favoriten itself, walking its streets and noting how it differs from the central districts you passed through.
Day two: Continue exploring Favoriten. It rewards a slower pace, so give yourself time to move between its parts rather than rushing. Despite its distance from the Innere Stadt, it remains part of Vienna and shares the city's wider character while keeping its own.
Day three: Use your last day to connect Favoriten with the districts to its north. Travel back through Margareten and Wieden toward the Innere Stadt, comparing what you saw in Favoriten with these inner neighbourhoods. It is a straightforward way to close your three days and see how the city shifts as you move north.
