Valentine's Day in Brooklyn 2027

Start with the Markets on Valentine's Day Itself

On Valentine's Day itself, Brooklyn runs on markets. At the Brooklyn Community Pride Center on Bedford Avenue in Crown Heights, the Lavender Market: Valentine's Soirée fills the afternoon from noon to 5pm, free to enter, with more than 20 artists and makers from Lez Night Out, matchmaking in the room and crafts to sit down to. Over in Gowanus at Littlefield on Sackett Street, The Spooky Social Club's 'Til Death Do You party runs the same hours for $11: a morbid market of haunted antiques and magic candles, tarot and astrology readings, love spells, a "Breakup Station" and Heartbreak Hotel, and blood-orange mimosas. If your Valentine's Day tastes run to the macabre rather than the pastel, that is where you go.

Hear Live Music, Comedy and Cabaret Across the Borough

The evening of February 14 is stacked. At Brooklyn Bowl on Wythe Avenue in Williamsburg, The Roots Present: Play Another Slow Jam begins at 8pm, with Questlove and The Roots working through slow jams (tickets run $121–$137). At Brooklyn Steel on Frost Street, also in Williamsburg, the disco collective Motherdisco — founded in Brooklyn in 2022 — throws its Valentine's Day party from 6pm. The Sultan Room on Starr Street in Bushwick opens at 7pm with live music, comedy and drag. And at The House Cocktail Bar on Locust Street, also Bushwick, The Poetry Brothel NYC stages DEVOTION at 7pm: an immersive cabaret with one-on-one poetry readings and an after-party, in a red velvet and black lace dress code.

The nights before are worth planning around too. On Thursday, February 12, the Brooklyn Conservatory of Music on 7th Avenue in Park Slope hosts Forever Valentine: A Night of Black Love Songs, 7–9pm, a live band moving through Marvin Gaye, Anita Baker and '90s R&B, tied to Black History Month. On Friday, February 13, Littlefield in Gowanus runs Hot Gay Valentines from 8pm — comedy, live music and astrology readings.

Make Something, or Move Your Body

If you would rather leave with something in your hands, the borough has workshops built for exactly this weekend. Stems Brooklyn on Knickerbocker Avenue in Williamsburg runs an Embroidery Valentine session on Saturday, February 7, 11:30am–1:30pm — beginner-friendly, with the kit, snacks and drinks included. On the 14th, Therapy Wine Bar 2.0 on Malcolm X Boulevard in Bedford-Stuyvesant pairs a LEGO rose build with Argentinian Malbec and a cheese plate, 1–3pm, and the Emergency Training Center on New York Avenue in Flatbush hosts a Paint & Sip Valentine Edition from 8–10:30pm.

Art, Poems and a Gallery by the Water

The Brooklyn Museum on Eastern Parkway in Crown Heights turns its Valentine's Day over to For the Love of Art, 11:30am–5:30pm, free with admission: custom poems written on the spot by Poetry Society of New York poets, card-making, drawing in the Egyptian Gallery, and Judy Chicago's The Dinner Party as the centerpiece. Out in Sheepshead Bay, the Sable Gallery on Emmons Avenue opens its Love in Art exhibition with a reception on Friday, February 13, 5–7pm, then shows Saturday, February 14 and closes Sunday, February 15, noon–7pm each day. Later on the 14th, The Sapphic Experience takes over Sandy Jack's on 5th Avenue in Sunset Park at 9pm, with profits benefiting the Lesbian Herstory Archives and a no-one-turned-away-for-lack-of-funds policy.

When to Go, and How to Build the Day

Valentine's Day falls on a Saturday this year, which means the daytime and evening programmes do not compete — you can take the market hours, the museum hours and a late show in sequence. February in Brooklyn is cold; the Lavender Market and the museum are your indoor anchors, and the Cupid's Chase 5K in Prospect Park is the one event that puts you outside, so dress for it. Book the ticketed rooms — Brooklyn Bowl, Brooklyn Steel, The Sultan Room, The Poetry Brothel — before you fly, because the 14th is the busiest night of the month for all of them. The workshop calendar starts as early as February 7, so a longer stay lets you stitch, pour and paint your way into the weekend rather than sprinting through a single evening.

Pick your Brooklyn: Williamsburg for the bowl and the disco, Gowanus for the spooky market and the yoga, Bushwick for drag and poetry, Crown Heights for the free market and the museum. Then start with the one ticket you cannot miss and build the rest of the day around it.
