Christmas of Wonders in the Centro Storico
You climb the switchbacks of Monte Titano and the streets narrow, the shopfronts glow, and the whole historic centre of the Città di San Marino is given over to Il Natale delle Meraviglie — the Christmas of Wonders. It runs from 28 November 2026 to 6 January 2027, daily from 10:30 to 19:00, and admission is free. Come on Christmas Day itself and this is the reliable spine of your visit: the same daily programme, the same square, the same lights.
Skate beneath the towers, then queue for the House of Father Christmas
The two anchor attractions are the ice rink and the House of Father Christmas, both part of the Christmas of Wonders programme. Bring the family and plan your day around them:
- Lace up at the ice rink in the Centro Storico — a daily fixture of the festival, open within the 10:30–19:00 window.
- Take children to the House of Father Christmas, where the programme includes workshops and animations aimed squarely at younger visitors.
- Wander the Christmas market stalls around Piazza della Libertà for gifts, decorations and seasonal food and drink.
- Time your loop so you are in the square as the light fades — the festival closes at 19:00, so an afternoon arrival gives you the market, the rink and the square at dusk.

Be clear-eyed about the calendar. The calendar also carries the "Sea of Sound" Mark Francis exhibition at Palazzo SUMS / Galleria Nazionale, running 4 December 2026 to 28 February 2027, 9:00–17:00 with last entry at 16:30 (€11 full, €8 reduced) — a quiet, indoor counterpoint if you want a break from the cold. Note that many concerts and fairs across San Marino are free, and State Museum exhibitions use a circuit ticket at the same €11/€8 rates.
Valdragone: what to expect from the village
If you are staying in or passing through Valdragone, go in knowing that the official sources make no mention of it — there are no Valdragone-specific Christmas events listed. The Christmas of Wonders is staged in the Centro Storico of the Città di San Marino, so build your day around the climb up to the historic centre and treat Valdragone as your base rather than your destination. Confirm full programmes and any last-minute changes with organisers or official event sites, since individual event cards are the only place times, locations and contacts are given in full.
Beyond Christmas: the rhythm of San Marino's year
If the season whets your appetite for the Republic, the annual calendar gives you reasons to return. The Feast of Saint Agatha falls on 5 February, marking Liberation; the Captains Regent are invested on 1 April and 1 October; the Medieval Days take the last weekend of July; Mi Gusto San Marino arrives in mid-August; and Sunrise on the Mount fills the summer.
