Christmas Day on Orchard Road, Singapore
Step out of ION Orchard at dusk on Christmas Day and the street ahead of you is a continuous ribbon of light, from Paterson Junction to Bideford Junction. Above Shaw House, a 6.2-metre Merli inflatable wears a Santa hat, lit nightly from 6.30pm until 6.30am. Crowds drift between the photo spots — the Steps of Golden Joy at Shaw House Urban Plaza, the Golden Christmas Tree at Mandarin Gallery, Meet Me Under the Mistletoe at Ngee Ann City — while music spills from speakers along the walkways. The air smells of roasting nuts and coffee from the mall concourses; the pavements are warm and busy well into the evening.
Walk the Light Trail and the Photo Spots
The Christmas on A Great Street campaign runs from 1 November 2026 to 3 January 2027, so Christmas Day falls squarely in its fullest stretch. The whole route is walkable, and the installations are free to visit.
- Start at Shaw House Urban Plaza for the Steps of Golden Joy, then look up for Merli in the Santa hat.
- Cross to ION Orchard for the Gateway to Golden Joy and A Golden Christmas Moment installations.
- Continue to Ngee Ann City for Meet Me Under the Mistletoe, then finish at Mandarin Gallery for the Golden Christmas Tree.
- Time your walk for after dark — the Merli figure is illuminated from 6.30pm, and the projection show on the Hilton Singapore Orchard façade runs 7pm–10pm daily (extended to 12.30am on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve, with midnight countdown content).
Music in the Air, All Day Long
From 10am to 6.59pm daily through the season, live music fills four zones: the ION Orchard–Ngee Ann City walkway, Mandarin Gallery, Paragon, and the Shaw House walkways. On Christmas Day this gives you a moving soundtrack as you shop or stroll — pause at each zone, then carry on. The performances are part of the campaign and free to stop and listen to.

Several seasonal pop-ups overlap the Christmas period, though check dates before you build a day around them — not all run through 25 December.

If You're in Town on Christmas Eve
The biggest street event of the season falls the night before. On 24 December 2026, Orchard Road closes to traffic from 6pm to 2am between Paterson Junction (ION Orchard) and Bideford Junction (Ngee Ann City). The party itself runs 8pm–12.15am, headlined by Benjamin Kheng and Maia Lee, with DJ sets, mascots, food trucks and a midnight countdown. "Sleigh the Street!" by *SCAPE adds street dance, graffiti art, circus performances and creative activities. If your trip allows, arriving on the 24th gets you both the party and the calmer Christmas Day walk.

Christmas Day itself has no separate dated programme beyond the ongoing shows and installations, so build your day from the projection show, the Music in the Air zones and the photo trail — all confirmed to run on 25 December.
