Watch the Sky Light Up Over the Erasmus Bridge
At half past ten on 31 December, the riverfront fills with sound. The National Fireworks—Het Nationale Vuurwerk—launch from the Erasmus Bridge, and for 2026 the experience comes with screens, improved audio and a soundtrack running from 22:30. It is the largest fireworks show in the Netherlands, a Dutch tradition for more than fifteen years, and it draws tens of thousands of people from across the country and abroad to the water's edge. Stake out your spot along the Maas well before the music starts; the crowd builds steadily through the evening.

Eat Oliebollen, Then Sit Down to Oysters
The Dutch New Year's table starts with oliebollen, and you can find them at Olieboulen NYE at Mooie Boules, where a house-party format mixes board games, shuffleboard, DJs and around 600 attendees. Tickets run €25–€35 excluding a €1 fee. If you'd rather dine properly, Pesca serves a walking dinner with live music and a seafood menu of oysters, marinated salmon, BBQ tuna, scallops and grilled whole fish—€85 per person excluding drinks, or €145 including them. At nhow Rotterdam, the Year's Eve Midnight Party offers either a five-course New Year's Eve dinner or a party with DJ, drinks and snacks, both with views of the city fireworks. For a seat above the river itself, NYE – MUNCH pairs views of the National Fireworks with house, R&B and sing-alongs, a dress code and bubbles at midnight; entry-window pricing runs €16.50–€30, with ladies' tickets at €37.50–€75.
Plan Around the Clock, Not Just the Clock Strikes
The night does not end at midnight—it splits in two. If you want the fireworks, be on the riverfront by 22:30. If you want the clubs, note that some doors open at 00:30 on 1 January and others at 01:00, with parties running until 09:00 and even 13:00. That means you can watch the display, eat, and still walk into a room at one in the morning. Prices may rise and events do sell out; several on this list already had. Book tickets before you travel, and keep the evening flexible enough to move between the bridge and the dance floor.
Start with the fireworks on the Erasmus Bridge, pick one party that matches your stamina, and book it now—Rotterdam's New Year's Eve rewards the people who decide early.
