New Year's Eve in Val Thorens
You step out into the cold at Place Caron, the snow packed hard underfoot, the floodlit slopes rising above the rooftops. It is 31 December in Val Thorens, and the resort is at 2,300 metres in the French Alps. The evening starts early here: a torchlight descent by ESF and Ski Cool instructors from 18:00, free hot drinks handed round, and then the DJ set and light show with Maeva Carter on the roof of the Sports Centre – Le Board, running from 21:00 to midnight. The fireworks come at midnight, viewed toward Cime Caron from Place Caron.

Quiet Mornings and a Letter to Your Future Self
Not everything happens on the snow. Café Lettre — letter-writing to your future self — runs at Chalet Péclet from 17:30 to 19:00 on 28, 29, 30 and 31 December. It is for Val Tho Club members only, requires registration at club@valthorens.com, and has limited places. If you want a slower start to the day, this is the anchor of the late afternoon. The wider Christmas programme, "Once Upon a Christmas Val Thorens," runs 20–25 December 2026, ahead of the New Year week.
