Walk Into GlasGLOW at the Botanic Gardens
It's dark by late afternoon, and the path through the Botanic Gardens is lit by installations that throw colour across the glasshouses. This is GlasGLOW, running 16 October to 1 November 2026 and billed as the UK's biggest Halloween event. You move through it at a slow shuffle with everyone else, phone torches down, following the light. Book ahead — a timed slot is the difference between a smooth entry and a long wait at the gate.
If you want the scale of the thing before the end of October, this is the anchor of the city's season. Pair it with an afternoon in the West End and you have a full day without crossing the river.
Pick Your Night: Concerts, Club Nights and Cabaret
Halloween weekend in Glasgow is a run of overlapping nights, most of them on 30 and 31 October. You can move between genres in a single evening — the venues are close enough that a taxi is optional and a walk is often faster.

Theatres, Screens and Rooms Built for Ghost Stories
Glasgow tells its Halloween stories indoors as well as on the dancefloor, and some of the venues are the attraction in themselves. The Britannia Panopticon Music Hall on Trongate is the oldest surviving music hall in the world, and it hosts two very different nights this season.

Not everyone wants a late night. Much of Glasgow's Halloween happens in daylight, in workshops and gardens, and it suits families, rainy afternoons and anyone who'd rather make something than queue for a bar.
- Loch Lomond Scary Trail & Pumpkin Patch — 2 October to 1 November 2026. The Loch Lomond Faerie Trail becomes a Scary Trail with a pop-up pumpkin patch. This is your day trip: leave the city, walk the trail, come back with a pumpkin.

If you're travelling with children, the programme skews early and indoors. The SEC and SEC Armadillo host the biggest of it, and the East End and Southside carry the rest.

Eat around the edges of these. The Barras and BAaD give you the East End on 25 October for the Soul On Sunday day party; Byres Road and the West End put you near Oran Mor and the Botanic Gardens on the same trip; the Southside and East Renfrewshire cover the Milngavie and Eastwood events. For seasonal food, the tea parties at Dobbies Milngavie and the brunch events are where the pumpkin-and-sweet things live — the rest of the year's Glasgow eating, from curry houses to bakeries, doesn't shut down for October.
When to Go, and How to Plan It
The season runs from the start of October, with the big set pieces landing on the last weekend. Book GlasGLOW and Spooktacular first, since they run the full month and absorb the largest crowds. Then build outward: a workshop or pumpkin patch in the daytime, a theatre or market early evening, a club night after. If you only have one night, take 31 October — the Cathouse, Optimo at Saint Luke's, King Tut's, Oran Mor and the Panopticon market all fall on it. Check listings before you travel, as dates shift year to year, and confirm times with each venue directly. Start with the two anchor events and the rest of the city will arrange itself around them.
