Walk into Keskustori as the Christmas lights come on
It is late afternoon in Tampere and the sky over Keskustori Central Square has gone the flat blue-grey of a Finnish December. Santa Claus appears on stage alongside other festive entertainment, and the programme spreads from the square into Laikunpuisto park until 18:00. If you want the city at its most animated, build your trip around that evening, then use the following weeks for the market and the stable yards.
Spend an afternoon at Tallipiha Stable Yards
From 14 November to 23 December 2026, Tallipiha Stable Yards holds its Christmas season among wooden houses that now contain shops, boutiques and a café serving treats, hot beverages and freshly baked goods. Booths around the yard sell handicrafts and design, and the resident animals — Torsti and Ensio the sheep, Vilho the donkey and Lassi the pony — give children something to linger over. Because Tallipiha closes on 23 December, it is one of the last Christmas stops still open in the final days before Christmas Eve.
Take the family to Doghill Christmas at Särkänniemi
Doghill Fairytale Farm, inside Särkänniemi amusement park, runs its Doghill Christmas on 11–13 December and again on 18–20 December 2026. The theme is a traditional Finnish Christmas, with animal encounters, activities and entertainment. It is a daytime, child-friendly counterpart to the evening lights of the city centre, and it sits comfortably in the same week as a market visit.
Eat, warm up and plan around the 24th

- Tallipiha café: hot drinks, treats and freshly baked goods in the stable-yard setting.
