Start on Náměstí Svobody as the Tree Goes Up

Turbomošt is the signature market drink here — hot, alcoholic, and strictly for those over 18. Order it at a stall and stand with it while you decide where to go next. Time Your Visit Around the Market Calendar
The city's Christmas infrastructure is not uniform, and knowing the dates lets you plan a Christmas Eve that actually has something open. Zelný trh and Moravské náměstí run through 31 December 2026, so both are still trading on 24 December when the other squares have closed for the season. If your trip falls earlier, the Výstaviště market at the Exhibition Centre runs for four days only, 11–14 December 2026, in pavilions F and G1, with roughly 300 sellers and free parking — the one date-specific detour worth building a day around. Base Yourself Central, and Know Where Not To
Stay in the centre and you can walk to every square above without touching a tram, which matters most on Christmas Eve when you will be out after dark and moving between lit spaces. Beyond the city, the markets themselves are the day trip: the Exhibition Centre site at Výstaviště is a self-contained half-day when it is running, with its own parking and hundreds of stalls under one roof.
