Overview

Eswatini, formally known as the Kingdom of Eswatini, is a landlocked country in Southern Africa. It was previously known by its official names Swaziland and the Kingdom of Swaziland before adopting its current name. The country is bordered by South Africa on all sides except to the east, where it shares a border with Mozambique.

Size and Geography

Eswatini is remarkably compact, measuring no more than 200 km (120 mi) from north to south and 130 km (81 mi) from east to west. This makes it the second smallest country on the African continent.

Despite its small size, Eswatini boasts a surprisingly diverse climate and topography. The landscape ranges from a cool, mountainous highveld region to a hot and dry lowveld area, giving visitors and residents alike a variety of environments to experience within a relatively short distance.
