Barros Blancos is a city in the Canelones Department of southern Uruguay. It forms part of the metropolitan area surrounding Montevideo, the national capital, which lies to the south.
The city was renamed Juan Antonio Artigas in 1976, in honour of the commanding officer Juan Antonio Artigas, grandfather of the national hero José Gervasio Artigas. The original name, Barros Blancos, was reinstated in 2007.
