Gallatin is a city situated in the state of Tennessee within the United States. It serves as the county seat of Sumner County and is located approximately 30.6 miles northeast of the state capital, Nashville.
The city was established on the Cumberland River and was named in honor of Albert Gallatin, who served as the United States Secretary of the Treasury. It officially became the county seat of Sumner County in 1802.
