Florence is a city located in the state of South Carolina, United States. It serves as the county seat of Florence County and functions as the primary city within the Florence metropolitan area. Geographically, it is situated at the intersection of Interstates 20 and 95, where it marks the eastern terminus of the latter interstate.

The city is positioned within the historical Pee Dee region of South Carolina. This region encompasses eight counties in northeastern South Carolina as well as portions of southeastern North Carolina. As of the 2020 census, Florence had a population of 39,899, making it the tenth-most populous city in the state.
