Newport is a seaside city located on Aquidneck Island in the state of Rhode Island, United States. Situated within Narragansett Bay, it is positioned approximately 33 miles southeast of Providence, 20 miles south of Fall River, Massachusetts, and 74 miles south of Boston. It sits roughly 180 miles northeast of New York City.

The city is recognized as a prominent New England summer resort. It is particularly noted for its rich sailing history and its collection of historic mansions. As of the 2020 census, Newport had a population of 25,163.
