Johnston is a town located in Providence County, Rhode Island, in the United States. It was officially incorporated on March 6, 1759, and was named in honor of Augustus Johnston, who served as the colonial attorney general.
The town's population was recorded at 29,568 during the 2020 census. Notable landmarks within the municipality include the Clemence Irons House, a stone-ender museum dating back to 1691. Additionally, Johnston is home to the only landfill in the state of Rhode Island.
