New City is a hamlet and census-designated place located within the town of Clarkstown in Rockland County, New York. Situated as a suburb of New York City, the community lies approximately 18 miles north of the Bronx. It is positioned in a geographic cluster including Bardonia, Nanuet, New Square, New Hempstead, West Haverstraw, and Congers.
As part of the New York metropolitan area, New City is one of the more populous residential areas in its region. According to the 2020 census, it had a population of 35,101, making it the 14th most populous census-designated place or hamlet in the state of New York.
